THE NATIONAL BASEBALL HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM DAD BECOMES A HALL OF FAME DAD!

Joe O' Donnell

A HALL OF FAME DAD was discovered at The National Baseball Hall Of Fame and Museum during the renovation of the second-floor exhibit area in 1994.  On a winter morning early in 1994, while moving a second-floor exhibit, Wendy MacBlain discovered, slipped underneath and between the display cases, an old photo and note of tribute to a beloved father.  It was the secret nomination by Pat O’Donnell of his father into the Baseball Hall Of Fame.  Now Joe O’Donnell is remembered as a Hall Of Fame Dad in the Fathers Hall Of Fame™.  We are glad to work with The National Baseball Hall Of Fame and Museum where Pat O’Donnell is making this tribute a lasting reality for a great baseball Dad, Joe O’Donnell.

NATIONAL RACING FAVORITE " Big Daddy" EARNS SPECIAL RECOGNITION AS A HALL OF FAME DAD!

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits

The Father’s Hall Of Fame recently recognized Don Garlits during a private ceremony at the Museum of Drag Racing. This Hall Of Fame Daddy was found racing his way through the holiday season but willing to share a few moments with us.  All through his career as a drag race car driver his family shared in the adventures of drag racing.  In touring the museum one sees picture after picture of his family in front of each new racing car Don and his team developed.  Don’s high school sweetheart is his wife Pat.  This induction event fell on his birthday!  The day we took a tour of this fantastic museum we were greeted by Don’s loving mother.  The man known to his fans and friends as “Big Daddy” now takes the lead and joins other famous dads in our virtual museum, Father’ Hall Of Fame.

The name “Big Daddy” Don Garlits is synonymous with drag racing at its best!  In racing circles Don is known as the “King of the Dragsters.”  Don began racing in 1950 and scored his first major victory in 1955.  He was able to overcome many hardships and setbacks in his racing career. Don has won the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals on 8 different occasions.  His living legacy and race car design improved drag racing significantly.  One of his creations, Swamp Rat XXX is on display in the Smithsonian Museum of American History for all to see.  Learn more online at:   http://www.garlits.com
